Mayans Premiere: Mom’s Night Out

I’m currently sitting here munching on a snack before I get ready for the Mayans Premiere. My dad is a producer, but his girlfriend couldn’t make it tonight. So I offered to accompany him. These things are a lot more fun with a date. And my brother did the Mayans pilot as well, so he’ll also be in attendance. It’s going to be a mini family outing!

I’m really excited to get out of the house, since I’m home most of the time with three under three. I’m definitely a home body, but every once in a while, it’s nice to put on some red lipstick and eyeliner. And when I get really crazy, I even put on some heels. Still deciding on that for tonight.

I think it is so important for us moms to spend time in roles other than that of nurturer. Sometimes I just need to be a woman, a sister, a daughter. I’m looking forward to having a conversation without a child to interrupt me or spill food on me. I’m looking forward to being Jacque, instead of mom.

But I know I’ll miss them. I’ll miss brushing their teeth, reading stories, and putting them to bed. But it is so important for me to spend time just being me, or we lose that. We can lose who we were within the role of motherhood. Do whatever you can to keep a piece just for yourself. A morsel that belongs to you and you alone.

I hope you have a wonderful night. I know I will 😍.
